Community Need
In order for teens to lead productive lives and not to become just another statistic, they need a safe and positive environment in which to communicate and find answers to their questions. Youth seek information and resources on a variety of topics including:
- School academics and extracurricular activities
- Preparing for college
- Friendships and intimate relationships
- Self-esteem and image
- Programs and activities in the community
- Employment and work issues
- Health, beauty, and fashion
- Parents’ divorce
- Death of a parent or loved one
- Use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs
- Peer Pressure
- Sexuality activity
- Teen Suicide
This project addresses the need for teenagers to have an outlet for communicating in a sage, candid and non-threatening environment. It enables teens to express feelings (both positive and negative) while presenting personal experiences, strengths and hopes in a non-traditional manner. The publication also combines reference materials, facts and features, and homework help – all in one sage, searchable environment created especially for teens. Teen Graffiti addresses common issues across all racial, ethnic and gender lines.
